Hand spun

I’ve been spinning yarns since 2001 when I first taught myself with a drop spindle. I now use a Kromski minstrel single treadle wheel made in Poland for all my hand spun. All of the yarns I make start with me selecting the raw fleece from the sheep farmer, mostly here in Maine where I live, Ireland where I visit often, and once in a while from around New England. I hand wash these raw fleeces by hand in my kitchen sinks. Card the wool into batts and then spin into yarns. I then choose the natural dyes usually using local dye plants I forage here on Peaks Island.
