Dispatches from Pluto

I’m so glad I read this book. Living in Maine most of my life ( since I was 4) for some reason I never thought much about Mississippi except that it’s fun to spell. When an old high school friend moved there after college, we were talking on the phone one day when I asked him what it was like there after living in Maine his whole life? He directed me to this book, Dispatches from Pluto. Written from the protective of an Englishman whose just kind of checking out the area and then decides to stay.

If you’d like a perspective on race relations in the American South this book is for you. If you think racism is a thing of the past (I mean, like, if you’ve been living under a rock or something) this book is for you. If you know nothing of the Mississippi Delta, then this book is for you. Or if you just enjoy a good non fiction read about a place so steeped in history and you like learning about various places around America, this book is for you. Just pick it up and read it.
