
I knew it was the right time of year. I knew we were getting enough rain. More than enough really. I knew to be patient. I knew to look near and under pine trees. And then I found them.




Cortinarius semisanguineus will yield deep earthy reds when cooked in hot water with wool and silk that has first been treated with alum.
I processed all that I found and popped them into my freezer for later. I couldn’t be more excited!!
